Today at the Automotive Linux Summit, VNC Automotive and MediaTek announced a collaboration to bring multi-device split screen mirroring to MediaTek’s Autus I20 infotainment system-on-chip (SoC). This technology will enable automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to design cutting-edge, differentiated in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI) and rear screen solutions, bringing consumers stunning in-vehicle display experiences. As leaders in the vehicle connectivity space, MediaTek’s SoCs and VNC Automotive’s connectivity middleware have been deployed to the market globally.
With in-vehicle split screen technology, drivers and passengers can enjoy a personalised entertainment experience by accessing their smartphone’s content from any of the vehicle’s entertainment displays. The solution also supports panorama style displays in the front so users can mirror multiple smartphone devices within the same user interface and share smartphone content with rear seat entertainment (RSE) systems.

MediaTek and VNC Automotive are working closely with operating system, connectivity protocol and silicon providers so Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs can easily integrate the split screen technology into vehicle sensory, IVI and human-machine interface (HMI) systems and ensure the systems work seamlessly with consumer devices. This tight integration will help shorten the development cycle, streamline engineering resources and speed up time to market for the latest IVI technology.
