CAMBRIDGE, UK and COLWYN BAY, WALES. North Wales Police has significantly optimised its vehicle fleet operations by integrating VNC Automotive’s innovative Cobalt Cube® technology. This collaboration will be highlighted at NAPFM The Emergency Fleet Exhibition, this week, a key event for police fleet managers.

North Wales Police faced challenges with bulky ANPR equipment occupying passenger space and reducing vehicle aftermarket value. The introduction of the Cobalt Cube has streamlined their fleet of Audis, enabling the ANPR system to be displayed on, and controlled from, the OEM dashboard screen. This ergonomic solution frees up cabin space, improving officer safety and comfort. Vehicle conversion time was also reduced, and aftermarket value retained.

Tom Blackie, CEO of VNC Automotive, stated, “We’re delighted to have worked with the fantastic team at North Wales Police to deliver this project for their future facing team. Having seen VNC Automotive at an industry event, North Wales placed an order for Cobalt Cube straight away. Our engineering team supported North Wales in the successful roll out across their fleet of Audis. These vehicles are out in the field and enabling officers to access ANPR software from the OEM screen. Whilst these fleet vehicles will now retain higher after market value when decommissioned, we were able to help reduce cabin clutter and improve occupant safety, which is the real win.”

Carl Spendlove, Vehicle Installation Supervisor at North Wales Police, added, “We met the VNC Automotive team a year ago and found their Cobalt Cube offering very compelling. It is a great solution for freeing up cabin space and securely integrating our ANPR software with the existing vehicle screen. Quickly we were able to run a trial and then full roll-out across our ANPR fleet, which has been in the field for coming up to a year now and has received excellent feedback from our officers. The VNC Automotive team have been very proactive throughout, and we look forward to future projects together.”

Learn more about this successful collaboration and see the Cobalt Cube in action at NAPFM The Emergency Fleet Exhibition, Telford, UK between 2-3rd July. Visit VNC Automotive at stand 74, and demo vehicle at the show entrance, for a live demonstration and to discuss your upcoming projects.
